What is CBD? What does it mean?

CBD stands for “cannabidiol” which is a powerful plant-based molecule that has a remarkable array of health benefits in the body. Hemp plants have more than 113 biologically active chemical compounds known as “cannabinoids.” CBD (cannabidiol) is one of these many compounds and has the most powerful medicinal effect on our bodies.

How does CBD Work?

We all have a system in our body called the endocannabinoid system. When the body is introduced to cannabinoids (such as CBD), our endocannabinoid receptor sites are engaged and activate the endocannabinoid system. When these specific receptor sites are stimulated, the body begins to regulate itself, achieving what’s called homeostasis in the mind, nerve pathways, muscles, skin, and other organs.

What does Homeostasis mean?

Achieving homeostasis in the body means that you create stability and balance in all of your organs. CBD helps our body’s natural endocannabinoid system accomplish this by regulating the many critical functions of our body.

Can I get high on Kanavia's CBD?

No, you cannot get high with any of Kanavia’s CBD products. Unlike our competitors, all of our CBD products -- from our broad-spectrum CBD capsules to our CBD muscle balms -- contain 0.0% THC and have no psychoactive effects. The only compound that can get you high is THC, and all of Kanavia’s products are lab-tested and guaranteed to be 100% THC-free. This is because we grow a very special strain of hemp that naturally contains less than 0.3% THC. After harvesting, we then remove this 0.3% of THC entirely through our proprietary THC extraction method.

How is Kanavia's CBD different than the competitor's?

It is a known fact that not all hemp is the same; therefore, not all CBD is the same.

At Kanavia Organics, we cultivate a very unique strain of medicinal hemp grown only on organic, US farms. Many CBD companies import their CBD oil from China and Eastern Europe. Unfortunately, due to varying European and Asian regulations on hemp quality, many of these imports contain heavy metals and are full of pesticides that hinder your body’s health. In Europe, for example, only industrial hemp can be used which lacks the medicinal power and naturally high cannabinoid and terpene content our proprietary plants include. Our plants are also not genetically modified and do not contain pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, and other contaminants.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are naturally occurring compounds found in all plants, including the hemp plant. They give the aroma and taste to the plant source. Terpenes are also found in essential oils! In the past decade, scientists have learned that CBD products also contain naturally occurring terpenes and that these terpenes contribute to the therapeutic effects of CBD. Kanavia is meticulous in our extraction method to ensure that all of the terpenes are carefully preserved in our natural CBD oil.

What are Flavonoids?

Flavonoids are also compounds in plants. Flavonoids, like other phytonutrients, are powerful antioxidants with anti-inflammatory and immune system benefits. They are found in the hemp plant and are another important compound that Kanavia preserves in our CBD extraction process.

Is it true that for CBD to work, it needs to have THC as well?

This may be true for companies that do not have nano-emulsification technology in their CBD manufacturing process. Kanavia Organics, however, has developed proprietary technology for breaking down CBD molecules into very small, water-soluble particles. This revolutionary technology is critical in the body’s absorption mechanism. It also allows Kanavia's CBD to be easily and effortlessly absorbed into the bloodstream without the presence of THC. In fact, Kanavia’s CBD is six times more bioavailable than the competitor’s products, making it more effective with less product needed. Without this technology, most of the CBD you use would be naturally excreted by the body before it could benefit from CBD’s significant health benefits.

How can CBD help my skin?

The skin is the body’s largest organ! Data from recent studies indicate that the endocannabinoid system plays a significant role in the homeostasis of the skin as well. We have cannabinoid receptors in many parts of the skin where we have sensory nerves, different immune cells, hair follicles, sebaceous glands (oil glands), melanocytes (pigments cells), and keratinocytes (the surface layer of the skin).

In a 2018 medical literature review on the uses of cannabinoids for skin disorders, Eagleston et al. determined that preclinical data on cannabinoids reveal the potential of CBD to treat acne, allergic contact dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa (inflammatory painful cysts), Kaposi sarcoma (type of skin cancer in immunocompromised patients), pruritus (itching), eczema, psoriasis, other skin cancers (melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma), and the skin symptoms of systemic sclerosis.

When the cannabinoid receptors are stimulated with CBD, the endocannabinoid system begins to help skin regulate many of its functions including pain sensation, oil production, cellular production, and most importantly, inflammatory responses.

Based on this study, Kanavia has developed and formulated all of our products with your skin in mind.
